[ 09.06.2015 ] - Stakeholders and experts to discuss diaspora and re-emigration policy and evaluation indicators at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology

We welcome stakeholders and experts involved in the implementation of diaspora and re-emigration policies to join the discussion, along with academics, to focus on both strengthes and weakneses of policies in power, and possible set of evalution indicators informed by up-to-date research conducted at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology.

On June 16, the event will open with a presentation on the processes of return migration to Latvia by Dr. Evija Kļave and Dr. Inese Šūpula, and an overview of experts’ opinions collected by Dr. Ieva Kārkliņa and Evija Kļave.


The discussioin will take place at the University of Latvia Library / Nationial research centre, Kalpaka boulevard 4, Riga, on June 16th, 10:30 to 12:30.

The event is a part of unprecedented diaspora research project «The Emigrant Communities of Latvia: National Identity, Transnational Relations, and Diaspora Politics» launched by the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology to produce detailed profiles of Latvian emigrant communities in main destination countries and substantially improve understanding of emigration trends, emigrant’s everyday life, their needs, hopes and future plans.
